A dog named Bonnie is a star on the Internet this week after an action camera clip she shot went viral. Back in 2016, Bonnie was handed a ping pong paddle-mounted GoPro HERO3 by her owner, Carmen Michelle. The camera was filming as she ran away from Michelle’s husband and other dogs in the yard. The resulting video was a humorous and strangely stabilized chase scene: The video went viral again this month after Michelle shared the video to Reddit with the caption: “The only reason we have a GoPro….” “She just likes the chase and having something that the other slowpokes want,” Michelle writes. Excited fans who were looking forward to the July 18th launch of the DJI Mavic 2 may still find some useful information from the recent leaks of the upcoming drone. In early July, Photo Rumors reported of a leaked picture plus a video about the new Mavic 2 from Drone DJ. They followed it up these past couple of days with more leaks: a new product catalog showing the Mavic 2 ahead of the launch, and a high-res copy of what is most likely a official image.
from https://www.thephoblographer.com/2018/07/31/dji-mavic-2-line-leaks/ Bangladeshi photojournalist Jibon Ahmed recently posted this photo of a couple kissing in the rain to his Facebook page. While it may be a romantic image in your eyes, people in Ahmed’s country felt it was indecent enough that the photographer was reportedly beaten and fired. The Washington Post reports that the photo shot at the University of Dhaka went viral and attracted many positive responses after Ahmed posted it. But it also attracted the attention of socially conservative members of the majority-Muslim country who believe that the photo overstepped bounds. “Lovers are getting more audacious by the day,” one angry commentator wrote, according to News18. “Earlier these things were done in secret. Now they are doing it in broad daylight. The day is not far when they will be making love in public.” Ahmed says he was roaming the campus for photographs last week when he came across the couple and captured their kiss. But after sending it into the newsroom of the outlet Purboposhchimbd, where he worked, the photo was rejected because the editors felt it would spark a negative reaction. That’s when he decided to post the photo to his Facebook and Instagram accounts, where it was quickly and widely shared. But the following days brought serious backlash. Ahmed tells the Post that he was beaten up by some of his fellow photographers and that his boss abruptly asked him to turn in his ID and laptop without explanation. “They gave me no reason for the assault,” Ahmed tells News18. “I have not taken any legal action because these are my colleagues and I have to work with the same people in [the] future. […] [T]he office gave me no exact reason for firing me. I was just told that I can’t work here anymore.” Khujista Nur-e-Naharin, Ahmed’s editor at Purboposhchimbd, says that the news outlet played no part in the attack. “The attack was not related to the professional duties,” Nur-e-Naharin tells the Post. “These attacks were the result of his personal transactions. Everyone at the editorial level congratulates him for taking this picture.” Despite what has transpired in the aftermath of sharing his photo, Ahmed says he won’t be derailed by the experience. “Every job will have its own problems,” Ahmed tells News18. “But that does not mean that we quit. A lot needs to change in the world, including people’s point of view. A twisted sense of morality cannot dictate an artist’s work.” (via The Washington Post via Mickey Osterreicher) Image credits: Header photo by Jibon Ahmed from https://petapixel.com/2018/07/31/photo-of-couple-kissing-in-rain-gets-bangladeshi-photog-beaten-and-fired/ Canon has announced the PowerShot SX740 HS, a 40x zoom compact that replaces the SX730 HS and adds 4K video recording to the line. I never thought that I'd be surprised by a point and shoot at a $399.99 price point, but the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is doing just that to me. Quietly announced today, the new camera is targeting the growing demographic of people who want to be a vlogger, YouTuber, Influencer, and do the job that journalists and bloggers have been doing for years while not paying attention to FTC laws in the nation with absolutely zero of the responsibility. So to do that, Canon is packing a lot of power into the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS.

Dave Williams, the #TravelTuesday blogger here at Scott Kelby’s Photoshop Insider, and freshly appointed editor at LayersMagazine.com. I’ve kicked off a new series of #MondayMotivation posts over there and I’d love for you to go check out the first one by Gilmar Smith! I’m fresh back from a mission to Turkey where I predominantly shot the hot air balloons over Göreme in Kapadokya. It’s home to the densest hot air balloon airspace in the world, with the dawn skies filled with them. The town is unique in that the buildings are carved and tunnelled into the rocky landscape. I’ll share more about it over on my blog, capturewithdave.com, another day. Today, right here, is all about a shot from the trip: –
Here’s the caveat, and it’s very important you aren’t disappointed by this. So, you know how this blog is entitled, ‘Scott Kelby’s Photoshop Insider,’ right? The clue’s in the name: –
It’s a composite of two images, one of the cave interior and one of the balloons in the sky. Now, I’ll say at this point, anticipating any comments about how I shouldn’t be faking this, that actually it is a view that is attainable at this location. I just wasn’t in the caves at the right time of day to see it! I was limited by time and didn’t know my way around to find the right spots in the dark before dawn. Anyway, here’s the tip: – We’ll use a different pair of images, and you can download the PSD file to try it yourself. When compositing images, it’s obviously very important to make the result look convincing! As well as good cut-outs and realistic placement of elements, matching the tone is very important. What I’m going to show you is a very quick, very easy, and very good way to match those tones. First off, get everything cut out and in position.
The Layers are set out in no fancy way for this technique, they’re simply stacked in order. On top, create a New Layer and fill it with 50% gray.
Now, change that New Layer Blend Mode to Luminosity. The colours will change, revealing the differences going on in your image. To see them more clearly, add a Saturation Layer to this and boost the saturation right up. What we’ve done here is create a representation of the colour in the image.
From here, add a Selective Colour Adjustment Mask. When faced with the Properties Panel, select the Neutrals from the Colours option, which actually contains most of the colour information. Adjust the Sliders to balance out your image and match the colours – it’s hard to explain it because it varies wildly on an image by image basis, however when you do it and see it yourself it’ll make sense, I promise!
The Layers Panel should look something like this one below, and to finish off the image we just need to remove the Hue/Saturation Layer and the Gray Layer.
This leaves us with an image which has balanced tones, leaving it looking realistic.
It’s a simple and fast way to balance tones in a composite, and I’d love to see how it works for you! Now, this experience is called a ‘once in a lifetime’ thing, and that played on my mind when I was out in Turkey. I wrote a little piece about that which I’d love for you to read on my blog. So, for now, Much love Dave The post The best way to match tones in Photoshop composites appeared first on Scott Kelby's Photoshop Insider. from https://scottkelby.com/the-best-way-to-match-tones-in-photoshop-composites/
We often refer to 50mm lens on a full frame as a "standard" lens because 50mm is fairly close to the perspective of the human eye. Using a 50mm lens on a camera with an APS-C sized sensor changes that perspective by about 1.5x making your effective focal length closer to what you get with a 75mm lens on a full frame body. Now, that's not a bad thing at all and if you love shooting portraits it's a very good thing! A 50mm lens on a camera with an APS-C sized sensor is a killer portrait lens. Also, because longer focal lengths compress perspective you'll get more of a three-dimensional look when making full body portraits if you shoot at your brightest aperture.

When the Blackforest Bags K2 Leather Edition came in for review, the first thing I thought about is just how much it looks like a man purse. I've reviewed tons of stylish camera bags before, but more than anything else that I've used, the Blackforest Bags K2 Leather Edition seems best meant to accompany your super high end camera--yet the Blackforest Bags K2 Leather Edition isn't available at a super high end price. This version is the all leather option, but there are offerings with canvas if you please. It's not going to hold a laptop or most computing devices, but it will be more than enough for most things that you'll need to have with you while out shooting.
